Welcome to the AAUW-Long Beach Branch website.
Linda Patten, Long Beach Branch President
The AAUW Value Promise:
By joining AAUW, we belong to a community that breaks
through educational and economic barriers so that
all women have a fair chance. |
|
 |
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world. Indeed,
it is the only thing that ever has.

| We are a group of dedicated
women who believe Equity is
Still an Issue. Because
we are university graduates and believe in the power
of education we work at the local level with: mentoring
in several forms, tutoring middle-school students,
presenting a Math and Science Career Conference for
over 170 middle-school girls every year, co-sponsored
by Long Beach City college and LBUSD WRAP program,
as well as sending carefully selected eighth-grade
girls for a week to Tech Trek® Science Camp for
girls at Whittier College. At the state and national
level we raise funds to provide educational grants,
scholarships and legal advocacy through funds and
foundations. Additionally, we have fun! There are
arrays of interest groups that include, but are not
limited to: book groups, current affairs discussion
groups, bridge groups, at least one educational outing
per year, as well as enlightening and enjoyable meetings.
Join like-minded women, forge lasting friendships,
while helping us help girls and women; you will be
doubly rewarded. |
